Since TTC was formed 26 years ago, Jeff has been leading collaborative efforts to create industries and address both commercialization opportunities and barriers to market development for clean and renewable energy companies. For 22 years, Jeff was the founding President of the National Hydrogen Association (NHA). He continues to serve as and the President of the Hydrogen Education Foundation (HEF), General Manager of the Partnership for Advancing the Transition to Hydrogen (PATH) and Senior Advisor to the Biomass Thermal Energy Council (BTEC). Beginning January 2012, Mr. Serfass has been serving as the Managing Director of the California Hydrogen Business Council. Jeff served as the founding Executive Director of the Fuel Cell Commercialization Group (11 years) , the Utility Biomass Energy Commercialization Association (3 years), and the Utility PhotoVoltaic Group (now the Solar Electric Power Association) (11 years). He led the exploratory workshops and relationship building that led to formation of each of these organizations, and then went on to manage them through start-up, development and strategic transition phases. He also served as the Executive Director of the U.S. Advanced Ceramics Association (5 years). Jeff has experience in the public policy related to electric system issues, and in the commercialization of new technologies important to power system management. He is assisting the Electric Power Research Institute in its development of megawatt-scale battery energy storage demonstrations and has developed collaborative research efforts in creation of smart grid technologies. Jeff was named to the U.S. Department of Energy and U.S. Department of Agriculture Biomass R&D Technical Advisory Committee (2006-2008) and served as the Chairman of the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory's Energy Conversion Initiative Advisory Committee (2006-2011). He created the advisory council for the Sacramento Utility District’s renewable generation research program funded by the California Energy Commission and is currently part of the team developing Total Energy USA in Houston Texas. Previous roles include positions with the U.S. Department of Energy and Westinghouse Electric Corporation. Mr. Serfass holds B.S. and M.E. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York.
