Luke Clemente is general manager of North America for GE Digital Energy. The GE Digital Energy business provides integrated smart grid solutions and reliable power delivery to electric utilities as well as the oil & gas, critical infrastructure and industrial sectors. Smart Grid is the marriage of information and automation technologies with our electrical infrastructure to support our 21st Century global energy needs… enabling us to do more with less through increased energy efficiencies.
As Digital Energy North America General Manager, Luke is responsible for customer engagement for the entire GE Digital Energy portfolio of hardware and software offerings utilized in electrical infrastructure, including the advanced smart grid offerings. Smart Grid means different things to different people and regions. Luke is a customer advocate and has over the last several years conducted regional Smart Grid Workshops around the world to more fully understand industry drivers and key product needs to engineer solutions designed to meet regional needs. Luke drives global awareness of the need for a smarter grid. As a global smart grid expert, Luke has addressed key industry and financial audiences including keynoting at the Smart Grid Latin America Forum in Brazil, as a panelist for the World Energy Council, presenting at state smart grid events in Colorado and Nevada, and discussion Smart Grid with both Merrill Lynch and Frost & Sullivan industry analysts. He has also been quoted in Wall Street Journal, USA Today, DGI and was heard on Popular Science radio.
Luke was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1986 and was a practicing attorney for several years prior to joining Enron as a director for business development. Luke joined GE Energy In 1998 as a business development manager, where he led a number of acquisitions. In 2001, Luke moved to GE Transportation as the general manager of business development. In 2003, he was named president for GE Transportation-China, based in Beijing. While in Beijing, he was instrumental in leading the team to establish and rapidly expand GE Transportation's presence in China with orders in excess of $800MM. In 2006, Luke became product line general manager for GE Energy’s control solutions business where he executed a successful turnaround strategy focused on profitable growth.
